Abstract

In the context of globalization and growing competition, local enterprises are compelled to search for more effective tools that ensure sustainability, profitability, and competitiveness. Since financial accounting mainly serves external reporting purposes, it does not provide sufficient support for internal decision-making. Therefore, management accounting, with its focus on planning, controlling, and evaluating business activities, becomes an indispensable instrument for efficiency improvement. This article explores the role of management accounting in local enterprises by examining its functions in cost control, budgeting, decision-making, performance measurement, and strategic planning. Moreover, by integrating both classical theories and modern approaches, the paper highlights how management accounting contributes not only to cost reduction but also to innovation and long-term sustainability. Consequently, the study emphasizes that the adoption of management accounting practices is essential for the success of local enterprises in dynamic environments.
