Abstract

Apoptosis is programmed cell death triggered by the destruction of the cytoskeleton by proteases and DNA cleavage by endonucleases. This process occurs through various homeostatic and pathological pathways and plays a vital role in maintaining the body's homeostasis, eliminating cells that pose a threat to its survival.

Caspases play a key role both in triggering apoptosis (programmed cell death) in the event of irreversible damage and in adaptive cellular responses to moderate stress. More precisely, apoptosis is the controlled elimination of cells deemed unnecessary or potentially dangerous to the body.
